They will later join you for a welcome drink and cover off any questions you may have and give you any helpful tips for you time in Kathmandu. You will take an early morning flight to the start of the trek at Jomson (2710m). After a short tea break the Spirit team will organise the porters to carry the luggage and gear and then we commence our trek with a short day to Kagbeni (2800m), a fascinating medieval rabbit warren of mud-brick houses which stands in a green oasis. The following day we will leave the Kali Gandaki valley and with a 4-5 hour hike and a gain of 1000m we reach our next destination of Muktinath (3800m), a walled temple complex where both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims have been coming to for centuries. A 4 hour hike today back towards Jomson, passing through Jharkot and reaching the most efficiently run village with excellent lodges of Marpha (2670m). The main street of Marpha is paved with spotless flagstones, dazzlingly white houses, each with piles of wood neatly stacked on its roof. A 3-4 hour trek brings us to Kalopani (2530m) which allows us a spectacular view of Annapurna 1 (8091m) and an even better view can be had by climbing up behind the school. A long day of trekking takes us to the mellow village of Tatopani (1190m), (meaning “hot water” in Nepali). A relaxing evening can be spent before rising the next day to explore the surrounds and soak in the natural hot springs below the village – where a view of Nilgiri (7060m) can be gazed upon from the hot tub. Another long day of trekking but rewarded with beautiful scenery and gorgeous villages as you walk through rhododendron and magnolia forests to reach Ghorepani (2750m) our next destination. An early morning rise is necessary to watch the sunrise across a spectacular Himalayan panorama from the summit of Poon Hill (3193m) which is just above Ghorepani. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche (6920m), Nilgiri (6940m), Annapurna South (7273m), Annapurna 1 (8091m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Tarke Kang (7193m) and “Fish Tail” – Machhapuchhre (6997m) can all be seen in their full glory. Breakfast at Ghorepani and then a 3-4 hour descent to reach the peaceful location of Tikhedunga (1540m) where we spend the night. A morning trek through Birethanti getting your last glimpse of Fish Tail and then crossing over the Modi Khola river to reach Nayapul. From here you will be driven back to the comfort of your hotel in the delightful lakeside location of Pokhara and spend the afternoon drinking a well earned cappaccino by the lake.
